Saraki Lobbies Others to make U-turn on Restructuring

Senate may revisit the debate on Restructuring as it concerns the amendment of the 1999 Constitution.
The Senate had during the debate on the amendment of the Constitution voted against the restructuring of the country.
President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, and Northern senators, we gathered have been meeting behind close doors on need to restructure Nigeria.
A meeting was held late into the evening on Thusday and came less than 48 hours after a similar closed door meeting with South East senators.
Although the details of the meeting were still sketchy as at press time, sources said Saraki may have persuaded the Northern senators to reconsider certain sections in the amendment of the constitution, which have to do with restructuring.
The meeting, was meant to lobby Northern senators to vote for restructuring when the issue comes up for consideration again.
The South East senators were said to have told Saraki to lobby their Northern counterparts in order to save their faces based on their call for the cessation by some groups and individuals in their zone.
The South East senators had after their meeting with Saraki told the Indigenous People of Biafra, led by Nnamdi Kanu, to halt their activities.
