Ghana defeated bitter rivals Nigeria with 4-1 on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium to win this year’s West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup.
Sarfo Kwadwo gave The Black Stars the lead in the 44th minute of play, with slack defending from the Super Eagles to make it 1-0.
Vincent Atingah doubled their lead from the penalty spot while Stephen Sarfo also converted another spot kick it to make it 3-0.
Atingah was sent off late in the game, but it did nothing to change the final outcome, as the Ghanaians added one more goal in injury time.
A stunning free-kick from Rabiu Ali was merely a consolation for Salisu Yusuf’s men.
Nigeria had defeated the Black Stars 2-0, when they met during the group stages of the tournament.
