Lagos SSG, Tunji Bello very unhappy with Ambode, Tinubu wades in
The Secretary to the Lagos State Government (SSG), Mr. Tunji Bello was unhappy with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of the state over matters bothering on duties of his office.
But there are indications that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had intervened, and prevailed upon him to drop the idea of resigning ,which he had made up his mind on.
A very unhappy Bello had stormed the Bourdillon, Ikoyi, Lagos residence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to inform him that he could no longer tolerate Ambode over what he termed ‘recklessness and abuse of office,’ and reportedly added that enough was enough.
A source stated that Bello specifically told Tinubu that Ambode gave out a juicy assignment meant for his office to some commissioners to handle and that this was just one of the Governor’s numerous disregard for his office, which was why he decided to resign his appointment with a letter through Asiwaju Tinubu.
“This appeared like an insult to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who told Bello pointedly that there was no way the resignation letter could be accepted and that he was the one that employed him and not Ambode.
“He then put a call through to Ambode and told him to meet him at home immediately,” said a source.
We gathered that as soon as Ambode arrived Bourdillon, Tinubu told him to see Bello as his elder brother and one of those that sponsored his election.
According to our source, Tinubu ordered Ambode to give the said job back to Bello and warned him never to disregard his office or treat him anyhow since, according to Tinubu, Bello is one of his favourites, and that he should see him as an co-labourer that must be carried along in the scheme of things.
“Since then, Ambode has been treating Tunji Bello with respect and Tunji has been performing his duties as the SSG contrary to his decision to lie low before coming up with a resignation letter,” said a source close to the two parties
