CJN expresses worries over depletion of judges

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, on Monday expressed worry over the continued depletion of Justices of the Supreme Court without replacement.

The CJN spoke during the valedictory court session held in honour of a retiring Justice of the court, Justice Amiru Sanusi, who attained the mandatory retirement age of 70, on Monday.

The retirement of the Funtua, Katsina State-born jurist brought the number of Justices of the apex court to 13, leaving a gap of eight Justices to make the mandatory 21 Justices of the court.

Justice Kumai Aka’ahs, too bowed out few weeks ago

“This is not cheery news in view of the ever-increasing number of appeals that flood the court on a daily basis.”
