The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and five PDP governors are in Gusau to stop Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, from joining the All Progressives Congress, APC.
This followed the visit of some APC governors and its Interim Chairman to the Zamfara State Governor a few days ago amid rumours that he is set to move over to the APC.
The PDP governors that are presently in Gusau are Aminu Tambuwa, Nyesom Wike, Seyi Mankinde, Darius Ishaku, Bala Mohammed and Ahmad Fintiri.
The NWC is also said to be considering offering automatic second-term ticket and the control of the party structures in the state to the governor as incentives to stop the planned defection.
A source told YOU NEWS that the planned defection of the governor is not because of any quarrel within the PDP but due to permutations on securing a guarantee for a second term in office by 2023.
