The Ooni’s visit to Aso rock comes after the president received President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf of Liberia and Pastor Adeboye. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi,arrived the Presidential Villa, Abuja at about 1.10pm, was received by President Muhammadu Buhari and vice president, Yemi Osinbajo. He arrived at the State House a few minute after Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) left. According to Comrade Moses Olafare, the director of media and publicity affairs at the Ooni’s palace,the monarch was grateful for Buhari’s support during his installation as the Ooni. “You will recall that the President was represented by Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo and Kabiyesi, was appreciative of this sort of support,” Olafare said. Report has it that the Ooni would discuss issues affecting the Yorubaland. This is the first visit of the monarch after his coronation last year. Oba Adeyeye was named the new Ooni of Ife in October 2015 following the passing away of Oba Sijuwade Okunade. After all the traditional rites were observed, he was presented with the staff of office and instrument of appointment on Monday, December 7.
