UBA enjoins students on Wold Saving Day

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has enjoined students of the Olivet Baptist High School, Ibadan, Oyo, to inculcate the habit of financial discipline.

The executive director, Lagos and West, UBA, Mr. Ayoku Liadi, who spoke to the students on during a mentoring programme organized by the bank recently to mark the World Savings’ Day, that the future belongs to those who realise the need to save for tomorrow early in life.

“To develop a savings culture, one needs to be financially responsible and prudent in the management of resources, set realistic timelines for saving and resist the temptation to spend frivolously.”

 He took the students through the numerous benefits of savings, especially from a young age, just as he harped on the need for financially responsibility.

The bank, through its UBA Foundation, has been in the forefront, promoting reading culture among secondary school children.

In doing this, it provides free literature to the students, regularly gets executive management staff of UBA to go to schools to read with the students and help them understand the benefits of reading.

In furtherance of this initiative, Liadi in stead of the UBA Foundation, donated textbooks and other educational gifts to the students of the school, while encouraging the students to participate in the on-going UBA Foundation National Essay Competition for Senior Secondary Schools.
