No fewer than 38 governorship aspirants are expected to attend the second session of the 12th synod of the Awka Diocese of Anglican Church in Anambra State.
The governorship aspirants, according to a statement on Monda, will join the over 2,500 delegates expected at the synod scheduled to hold at the St Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church Nawfia, in the Njikoka Local Government Area of the state between Friday and Sunday.
The chairman, central planning committee of the synod, Dr Emma Ezenwaji, in the statement, said the theme of the event is ‘Expanding our ministerial coast, implications for the ordained and the laity.’
He said, “We are anticipating more than 100 bishops, three governors, four ministers, over 38 governorship aspirants in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra at the synod.
“We are also expecting the state governor, Chief Willie Obiano and his wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu on the occasion being his last synod as a governor. Delegates from 89 parishes and 17 archdeaconries would be in attendance.
