Terrible Accident in Ogun: 22 perish (4 of same family)

The terrible accident on a Sunday at Sagamu has claimed the lives of these four soldiers in the gospel music industry in Nigeria.

Evng Ayodeji kekerejesu, Evangelist Iyanu Joseph, monjolajesu oluwapamilerin and Mrs opeyemi adesina.

The accident claimed the lives of 22 people. And 4 of them from 1 family.

YOUNEWS reports that the accident occurred along the Ikorodu/Sagamu road in Ogun State.

In a statement released on Sunday, April 5, Florence Okpe, the Ogun State Commander and Public Information Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), explained that the tragic incident happened when a vehicle rammed into two other vehicles already involved in a collision.

She revealed that the gospel singers, who were family members, were inside one of the vehicles and died instantly on the spot.

While expressing her sympathy to the grieving families, Okpe smotorists to refrain from overspeeding.

Their untimely passing has brought sorrow to the Nigerian gospel music community, as their promising lives and contributions were abruptly cut short

YOUNEWS reports that an Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and 17 others were confirmed dead in the accident at Gbaga on the Ikorodu–Sagamu Road, on Saturday.

She said the accident occurred around 4:00 p.m. and involved seven vehicles in total.

The vehicles included a Toyota Hiace bus (AGL 752 YC), a Daf truck (T14007L), and a Honda car (HT680).

Also involved were an unregistered Daf truck, a pickup (STF10204), and two motorcycles (AGG 448 Q, PKA 214 WS).

Okpe said the crash resulted from a wrongful overtaking attempt by the bus driver, who collided with the Daf truck.

During the rescue operation, the unregistered Daf truck suffered brake failure and rammed into an FRSC official, killing him instantly.

The truck also hit a parked pickup, the Honda car, and both motorcycles, causing further damage.

Okpe stated that 22 people were involved in the crash; 18 died and four others were injured.

The injured were taken to Dasochris Hospital, Gbaga. The dead were deposited at Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, Ogun.

Sector Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin expressed sorrow over the recklessness leading to Saturday’s crashes.

He too urged motorists to obey road signs and maintain speed limits to prevent such avoidable tragedies.

An eye witness said if the sad incident ; “I saw it life mutilated sheer remains of men and women.

“It was all human error. Impatient driver on high speed trying to manoeuvre.”

We may recall that few months ago , an accident on this same route claimed lives of many including a selfless activist, Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman Revolutionary ALFA.
