40-year-old Chester Lamar Grant has allegedly stabbed , 23-year-old British nursing student Tamilore Odunsi in their Houston Texas apartment just days before her graduation.
The two roommates had a disagreement over the cat of Lamar and things took a tragic turn when he violently confronted Tamilore and stabbed her several times before also attempting to kill himself after the gravity of the crime dawned on him.
The tragedy occurred on April 26 two months after they began to live together.
Lamar was booked into jail on May 3 after being formally charged with the murder of Tamilore.
Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal stabbing of a woman found at 6510 Goforth Street about 3:50 p.m. on April 26.
The suspect, Chester Lamar Grant, 40, is charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.
He is accused in the death of Elizabeth Odunsi, 23.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives H. Martinez and S. Chettry reported:
HPD patrol officers were called to a residence at the above apartment complex for a welfare check. They knocked on the door but did not receive an answer. Officers then discovered blood on the rear concrete patio and entered the apartment. The female victim was discovered on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds. A male was discovered in a bedroom with at least one stab wound.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the female victim, later identified as Ms. Odunsi, deceased at the scene.
The male (Grant) was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Further Investigation revealed Grant, the victim’s roommate, as the suspect in this incident. He was arrested on Friday (May 2) and subsequently charged.
