Côte d’Ivoire’s Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, General Lassina Doumbia, has been assassinated !
The top military official was gunned down shortly after leaving a high-level meeting with Defense Minister Téné Birahima Ouattara.
According to local sources, Doumbia’s vehicle was sprayed with bullets just outside the Ministry of Defense in Abidjan.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing shattered windows and multiple bullet holes. He was rushed to a military hospital but died before arrival.
Authorities have yet to confirm who carried out the attack or why. Was this a targeted hit or an act of terror?
Could internal military tensions or political rivalries be behind the killing?
Security has been ramped up in the capital as investigations unfold.
This brazen daylight assassination has left the nation stunned and on edge.
