ADC faces 1st major make or mar hurdle ..& attacks within

By, Onome Jackson

Rave of the moment coalition in political party, ADC is already facing a major hurdle and sundry issues !

Position is expectedly causing issues, as the Coalition hits the ground running.

YOUNEWS is aware that some are already insisting on Peter Obi to be the Presidential flag bearer with Nasir El Rufai as the running mate.

But Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who is still and has invested so much in the movement from PDP to ADC , we learnt wants to be the flag bearer.

In 2013, Atiku led the nPDP to form alliance with APC thereby destroying GEJ and PDP’s chance of winning 2015 election. PDP became sick.

Penultimate to 2023 election, He returned to PDP and ensured it never rotate power to the south after northern slot used by Buhari for 8 years.

His ambition, long time ambition to be President led to the double face of Wike, the exit of Peter Obi from PDP.

Now, he has dumped a sick and comatose PDP to align with other to push power back to the north using ADC as a platform.

He wants to be president by all means possible.

To underscore the problem at hand in ADC, Datti Baba-Ahmed, Labour Party Vice Presidential candidate in last election has said

“I don’t yet see anyone in this coalition who can scheme and plan for over 16 years. With all due respect to Atiku, he has contested consistently – this will be the seventh time. But tell me: is there anyone else in the coalition who will say, “Let it be the other person, and I will support them”? I’m yet to see that. Everyone seems only interested in their own candidacy.”

YOUNEWS learnt already, they started having opposition in the coalition camp.

“Atiku is silent now… Don’t take his silence for granted. They will use obi recognition and dump him.. Obi will be in the middle of the ocean. He either drop his ambition or becomes Atiku’s VP.

“It’s a Northern party…they know what they’re doing. They just want Obi to play along right now. When obi finally entered their trap that’s all for him.”

The stage is set for the battle. The Crux of the matter is that Atiku is promising , “I will do only one term and handover to Peter Obi in 2031”

Ina similar vein, Peter Obi is vowing,”I will do only one term and handover to a Northerner in 2031″

Unresolved disenchantment by original ADC members is also rearing it’s head. Some are not in agreement with the take over .

Then the 2023 ADC Presidential Candidate, Kachikwu, has launched a scathing attack on the group attempting to take over the ADC.

Kachikwu branded them as “mostly geriatrics” who are merely “shopping around for a party to prosecute their ‘chopping must continue ambition.”

He criticised their claims of being on a “rescue mission” for ordinary Nigerians, questioning how those who have “presided over the affairs of this nation for the past four decades” and left “nothing to show for their decades of leadership” can now be the solution.

“We are a nation lacking in the basics, whose majority are poor, but here we are watching those who set our nation on fire saying they are the fire brigade.

“No, you are not; you are a bunch of greedy and selfish old men who believe that political power is your birthright,” Kachikwu declared.

He added, “Nigerians are tired of your generation and reject everything you have to offer, which is nothing.”

Also, a group within the ADC has rejected Aregbesola’s appointment as the party’s interim national secretary, describing the move as unconstitutional and lacking legitimacy.

The group, which identifies as “Concerned Stakeholders of the ADC,” includes youth and women leaders, state executives, and ward coordinators.

It made its position known in a statement on Tuesday, signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Musa Isa Matara.

The statement, titled ‘ADC is not a one-man project: A response to Rauf Aregbesola’s acceptance speech,’ also dismissed the claim that the ADC has become the adopted platform for a national opposition coalition, calling such a declaration “misleading.”

“While we appreciate the enthusiasm with which Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has delivered his acceptance speech as Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, we must urgently and firmly reject the premise and process behind this appointment — an appointment that lacks due process, transparency, and the broad-based legitimacy expected in a democratic political party.

“We are not opposed to coalitions. We are not opposed to reform. But we are opposed to hijack, to imposition, and to speeches that sound revolutionary but hide elitist intentions beneath poetic language,” the statement read.
