Somtochukwu Maduagwu,AriseTV reporter and anchor has passed away after an armed robbery attack at her residence complex, in Abuja.
YOUNEWS confimed that Armed robbers attacked her apartment complex at Unique Apartments Katampe Fct-Abuja,developed by Amazing Grace Real Estate Ventures.
They were rading from flat to flat, robbing occupants. The Police were called but they didn’t show up.
The commotion that trailed the robberies (which she heard from her flat) caused fear to grip Somtochukwu so before the robbers made it to her own apartment, she jumped out through the window.
“According to reports, Vigilantes in the compound told neighbours that after jumping from the top floor of the 3-storey building and landing on the hard cemented floor, she was unconscious and discovered in a terrible state before she was rushed to the hospital.
“Speaking on the incident on Arise TV on Wednesday, CP Adewale said officers found Somtochukwu unconscious at the scene and rushed her to the hospital.
“He said, “Policemen moved to the scene and found her lying unconscious. She was immediately taken to Maitama General Hospital, where doctors tried to resuscitate her using CPR, but sadly, she could not make it”.
Recalling how she died , SANI YUSUF said ,”The robbery that claimed the life of Arise TV reporter, Somtochukwu happened at the block I live here in Abuja.
“I was the first person to be att@cked. I don’t wish anyone the things I witnessed. When I am ready, I will share the full details.
” Barnabas who was our armed security officer tried to fight off the robbers but was shot in the process
“I personally drove him to the hospital to get treated. I watched him pass away right in front of me hours later because he lost too much blood.
“He left behind a small family with one child. Our hospital emergency staff and services are really not ready but that’s a story for another day.
