YOU NEWS editorial on Osinbajo’s helicopter crash : 3 key points

An accident victim needs to be detained and examined for internal bruises and hemorrhage.

YOU NEWS just watched the video of the helicopter crash involving the Vice President and we verily believe  Osinbajo’s medical aides ought to make their expert opinion  count,  and medically ‘detain’ him .
Why should they allow the VP to continue with his duties despite the magnitude of the crash, to the extent of even addressing a crowd?
What are they trying to prove? Street credibility? That the man is super human? You played with the life of the number two citizen just because you want to be politically correct. ?
In saner climes, he won’t even be allowed to stand up after being ferried to safety. He won’t leave the spot until he is properly attended to.
Some injuries and ailments cannot be immediately determined after an accident, the victim would be properly examined before proceeding with his duties.
And this is not just any victim, he is the Vice President for crying out loud.

A closer and examined look at him during the campaign thereafter showed that the Vice President looked tired while waving to the crowd.

In saner climes,that rally would be cancelled immediately.

And again,beyond the initial reaction…accidents, including chopper crashes are an integral part of life…and professionals always try to find out what went wrong to avoid a repeat. This one must not be different.

If this chopper belongs to the Presidential fleet then the Nigerian Air Force has the maintenance responsibility. We expect their statement to aid our understanding of what went wrong.

If it was a private chartered chopper the NAF still had a duty to certify it fit. We still expect their statement.

Additionally the Air Accident Investigation Bureau must issue its initial report while detailed investigation report is expected later.

Anything short of these would mean the Ministries of Science and Technology and Aviation still have a long way to go.

Lastly, because this is the second time in six months that vice president  Osibajo chopper would be involved, some are insinuating conspiracy  theory.. There are also hate speeches flying around, alongside  political inuendoe..we are in campaign season, but it is absolutely  out-of place to wish fellow human dead.

It might be pure technical problems . Let’s be careful in fueling conspiracy that might wipe up emotions. We need to be careful. These are highly sensitive times.These times too shall pass.
